Beacon

Last weekend we headed upstate, Beacon, to visit some friends who moved there a few months ago. Someone calls it the New Brooklyn - something we definitely could see walking through the Main St of the little town. Seen Gilmore Girls? It definitely felt like we were in it. Cute coffee shops, diners, fresh air, donut shops, cute bars and a local farmers market were some of the stuff we got to explore on our weekend there. Last stop was of course DIA Beacon. A classic

This year's summer vacation we did a roadtrip from LA to Seattle. It was Joshua's first time on the west coast, and in LA he kept saying "Where do everyone hang out? It's so spread!"   In LA we spent most of our time on Manhattan Beach, where we have family. We only had four days there before we had to start on our trip up north so we didn't have much time to explore everything that we wanted to.   Photos to come...

Devoción in Downtown Brooklyn. Perfect spot to hang out with friends enjoying good coffee. but also a perfect spot to get some work done.

Brooklyn spring days

The morning walks are getting longer.

The trees are getting greener - the colors are getting stronger.

One day it's cold - the next it's uncomfortable hot.

We're drinking iced coffee instead of hot coffee.

We've planted more flowers on our porch.

Balder wants to be outside all the time.

Sunday activities

Once in a while we go to Chinatown to look for lamps and get some decoration inspiration. We've realized we're a little to old to have Christmas lights hanging on our walls, and It was time to get a grownup lamp over our dining table.

There are so many stores to choose from - and they all have amazing light fixtures in all price ranges and they really know what they are talking about. We ended up buying this black lamp to hang over our dining table. It felt so nice to take down all the Christmas lights that have been hanging on the wall for too long.

One helpful 'lamp expert' (he really knew everything about lamps) told us about a new Swedish candy store a few blocks away so we ended our Sunday adventure with buying lots of Swedish candy.

Bon Bon !!

Bon Bon !!

Norwegian 'Melkesjokolade' and my favorite - Lakrisal! We sometimes go to the West Village to buy candy from Sockerbit - but I'm so happy there is another candy store on the east side as well.

Morning Routine

I usually go to work pretty late, unless I have a morning audition, so I don't really have to get up super early. Joshua likes his space in the morning and prefer to be alone to do all his routines. Taking a shower, ironing his shirts, water the plants around the apartment and have a slow start to his morning without having to talk to anyone. I get up the second he's out the door. I'll go grab my juice, get Balder under the covers and look at my emails in bed. I'll hang out there for a while before taking the dog for a morning walk. After that I do work by the desk.   The best mornings are when the sun is out, and the apartment is filled with sun, everything is so sincere and calm. The coffee usually taste better then and the workflow is more satisfying. Having the time in the morning to make french press coffee, gather your thoughts, plan the day and not rush out is one of the things I'm spoiled with. So in the weekends when we're both off from work Josh still gets up before me to walk the dog and to get   donuts , bread and coffee for breakfast. Especially during the warm season this is now almost a tradition. We don't go out for brunch very often, we don't really start the day until noon and we like to spend our mornings together, alone .
